It’s August.
Summer is winding down, the calendar is full, and the pressure to keep pushing is creeping in again.
But if I’ve learned anything over the years in business, leadership, and faith—it’s this:
We weren’t made to run endlessly.
We were made to abide.
There’s a holy invitation in this season:
To pause.
To breathe.
To stop performing and producing long enough to remember who we are—and whose we are.
Because when we don’t make time to rest and reflect, we risk slipping into dangerous territory: self-reliance.
And self-reliance, even with the best intentions, leads us away from peace.
In 2 Chronicles 26, King Uzziah was a powerful and prosperous leader. As long as he sought the Lord, God made him successful.
But then it happened.
“But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall.” (2 Chronicles 26:16)
He stopped seeking.
He stopped depending.
He forgot the One who empowered him in the first place.
And the same thing can happen to us if we’re not careful.
Our success—if not anchored in daily time with the Lord—can deceive us into thinking we did it all ourselves.
Jesus said in John 15:5:
“I am the vine, you are the branches. If you remain (abide) in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
Nothing.
Not less.
Nothing.
That constant driving and doing might bring short-term wins, but it will eventually empty us of lasting peace and overflow.
God never asked us to prove ourselves—He asked us to abide in Him.
What if this month, instead of hustling harder, we:
Because fruit doesn’t come from striving.
It comes from staying rooted.
I’m taking this month to slow down and ABIDE—to come back to the well and remember:
Every good thing comes from the hand of God.
If you’re feeling stretched thin, spiritually dry, or emotionally weary, I invite you to join me.

Let August be the month you return—not to the grind—but to grace. You don’t need to do more. You need to dwell more. And when you do, you’ll find the peace your soul’s been aching for.
